    Efforts toward SDGs

Initiatives and Concepts for Building a Sustainable Society

Efforts Toward SDGs – Applicable SDGs

We contribute to achieving the SDGs by proposing five ‘GOOD’ initiatives. These activities are recognized in conjunction with relevant SDGs as part of the ‘BIOSTYLE PROJECT’ promoted by the Keihan Group.

Japan’s Largest Courtyard Green Wall and the Use of 100% Renewable Energy

Although located in Shijo Kawaramachi, one of Kyoto’s busiest areas, this building offers residents a space surrounded by greenery and nature. Additionally, it uses virtually 100% renewable energy, making it an environmentally conscious choice with minimal impact.

    Concept

    5 GOOD

The selection criteria for GOOD NATURE are ‘health and well-being for the body, mind, community, society, and the planet.’

    • GOOD for Health
    • GOOD for Minds
    • GOOD for Locals
    • GOOD for Social
    • GOOD for Earth

Original Organic Cosmetic Amenities Derived from Natural Sources

The hotel’s guest rooms are equipped with our self-developed natural organic cosmetic line ‘NEMOHAMO.’ Guests can experience the cosmetics during their stay and also purchase them at the store.

    Efforts to Reduce Plastic

Until eco-friendly packaging becomes the standard, we will continue our efforts as a small contribution to the planet by using plastic-free butterfly cups, washable and reusable cutlery, bio-based plastic chopsticks, and stirrers made from repurposed branches.

    Upcycled Original Cacao Tea

Original sweets brand RAU’s bean-to-bar chocolate is available in hotel guest rooms. The cacao husks generated during the manufacturing process are upcycled and transformed into cacao tea. We hope you enjoy the taste while experiencing the story of this circular process.

A lighting system that invites a restful sleep and provides a comfortable awakening.

The “Circadian Lighting System” promotes high-quality sleep and a comfortable awakening by mimicking the ancient rhythms of the sun. It recreates the natural cycle of falling asleep with sunset and waking up in the morning light.

Transforming food waste into agricultural fertilizer.

Food waste is an issue that society as a whole should address. At GOOD NATURE STATION, we compost food waste generated from our facilities and utilize it as fertilizer. GOOD NATURE STATION collaborates with farmers to establish a circular agriculture system.

    local production for local consumption.

We collaborate with producers of local agricultural products, goods, and processed foods from Kyoto and other regions to sell their products in the market.

    Amenities

IKEUCHI ORGANIC towels are made from 100% organic cotton and 100% renewable energy (wind power).

To conserve resources, we do not provide toothbrushes, hairbrushes, or shavers in the guest rooms and encourage guests to bring their own. For guests who forget to bring these items, we offer bamboo toothbrushes and wooden hairbrushes at the front desk.

The nightwear is made from double-weave gauze fabric and features a separated top and bottom design. Crafted from a comfortable double-weave gauze material with a slightly wider fit at the feet, it allows you to enjoy a relaxed style during your stay in your room.

Cacao tea is made by upcycling the cacao husks used in the production process of RAU’s sweets and is characterized by its chocolate aroma. This tea is an original green tea with the fragrance of chocolate.

The welcome sweets are chocolates made from RAU’s green beans. The cacao beans are imported through fair trade. The cacao husks generated during the production process are not discarded but are upcycled in-house, resulting in the cacao tea set in the guest rooms. By enjoying this, you also become a part of the “cycle.” *The contents may change depending on the season.

Please use it as a small outing bag or a sub-bag. This jute bag, made from eco-friendly materials with a natural texture, allows you to enjoy a sustainable stay.

Aiming for a globally eco-friendly hotel style, the hotel has installed water dispensers in the guest rooms on each floor and provides original hotel tumblers in all rooms. This is a new initiative to eliminate plastic.
